I was doing some reading about recent increases in gas ( and thus every sector of our economy including food, clothes, packaging, etc ) here http://blogs.salon.com/0002007/2004/08/05.html#a830
I do not think our union has realized that these increases are likely coming BEFORE this contract expires. With the very probable change in government, we will have to strike to get a fair increase ( relative to the cost of living ) ... it should be dealt with NOW. The only way to do this is to negotiate fairly now.
Vote NO for the contract, and NO to striking. Make our Union go bargain for what we are really worth. |

The union and the management group representing 12 health regions, the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations, are at an impasse over money.
Driol said the two sides are 3½ percentage points apart on the monetary package.
However, SAHO spokesman Susan Antosh said the two sides are "not anywhere close" on money issues.
"We've had four [per cent increase], four and four over three years on the table since mid-May. So we've had that on the table for a long time. They're looking for a significantly larger financial package than what that is," she said.

... some unions will fight for what their members are worth ... others nod their heads like little puppets. |
